Quizzes as a Learning Tool for Kids

Can kids playing quiz games be a real way to actual learning and knowledge? More time on the gadget. Will it yield anything useful for kids?

YES!

Read on to find out how and why from someone who's been there, done that.. I KNOW because I have a kid that's 12 and is topping in school in quizzes and tests on GK. Read on to find out more..

Kids who have restrictions on gadget time can actually benefit by playing quiz games on their phone - like general knowledge or GK quiz games or even more specialized ones like science games packaged as quizzes.

Even though the child may seem tempted to switch over to the more distracting and action-oriented games installed on the device, keep in mind that kids' minds are constantly working and absorbing. Spending even a few minutes playing a functional quiz game is going to pique their interest. As a result, they observe and absorb more facts about general knowledge when they are off the gadget - e.g. what they see in the newspaper, hear on television, somebody talking about something. Suddenly they realize they actually know something about the topic, they may even have a fact or two to add. It's a confidence boost for them. It starts off a virtuous cycle - they go back to the game on their own now, they actually start to like it, enjoy it.

I KNOW BECAUSE that's how I got my kid hooked. That's how he started winning prizes at school in quizzing. That's how he became a voracious reader.

Disclaimer : I built a couple of Quiz Games to reach out to children and adults, who wanted to keep their brains sharp or build their kid's brains and gk. I ended up also getting my child hooked. BTW, he helped me frame many of the questions for the GK Quiz Ultra game (he's now 12). Both these games are designed to minimize distractions - no online, multiplayer features. However, these quiz games can be played offline and are packed with special features to boost learning along with thousands of top quality quiz questions with answers.

I should add that my Science Quiz and GK Quiz game are made only for Android. Feel free to check them out. My advice if you do this with kids - stay a bit involved when the first start playing these games. Ask how their score was. Play yourself. Share with them how you scored. Create a bit of a healthy competition. Stay with it a few days. You won't be sorry!  By the way, adults can totally play these games. I bet you won't find it a cakewalk. If you do, you're one of the very knowledgeable people within your circle :)
